# Last Reported EPS

## What is Actual EPS?

The actual earnings per share reported by the company in their most recent quarterly earnings release.

## Think of it like this

Like your actual test score that gets posted on your report card.

## Formula

```
Reported EPS = Net Income ÷ Shares Outstanding
```

- **Net Income**: Company's profit for the quarter
- **Shares Outstanding**: Total shares issued

## Why it matters

- Shows actual company performance
- Compared against estimates for 'surprise'
- Drives stock price movements post-earnings
- Forms basis for trailing P/E ratio

## What's a good value?

| Range | Rating | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Beat > 5% | Strong Beat | Significantly exceeded expectations |
| Beat 0-5% | Beat | Met or slightly exceeded |
| Miss 0-5% | Miss | Slightly disappointed |
| Miss > 5% | Big Miss | Significant disappointment |

## Real-world example

If Apple reports $1.50 EPS vs $1.45 estimate, that's a 3.4% beat.
